Stay Safe
Even though we are now into the new year the evenings are still quite dark so here are just a couple of reminders about student safety:
Try to leave campus in groups. No matter what time of day it may be, if it’s dark we recommend that you try to avoid walking home alone.
Make sure that your phone is well charged in case of an emergency.
Ensure you pull your close door firmly behind you when you enter your building.
If you notice any faulty street lighting please report it to Glasgow City Council so it can be repaired promptly.
Personal attack alarms are available for free at the SRC Advice Centre. If you must walk alone then carry it in your hand or pocket.
21/1/13 – Sabbatical Review
Hi All,
This March, there will be new sabbatical positions at GUSRC for students to put themselves forward for in the election. The recent strategic plan of GUSRC highlighted that the role of Vice President (Media and Communications) would be subjected to a review. An independent review of the sabbatical positions took place in 2012, and following approval by GUSRC Council at its recent meeting, we can confirm that the positions available at the upcoming election will be;
- President
- Vice President (Education)
- Vice President (Student Activities)
- Vice President (Student Support)
The new position of Vice President (Student Activities) succeeds the current position of Vice President (Media and Communications). Vice President (Student Activities) will include overseeing activities such as student volunteering, graduate attributes, student media, clubs and societies and freshers week.
The position of Vice President (Education) will remain similar to the current position of Vice President (Learning and Development), with volunteering, freshers’ week and graduate attributes moving to Vice President (Student Activities).
The position of Vice President (Student Support) will remain the same, with the exception of clubs and societies moving to Vice President (Student Activities).
Nominations for these positions are open to students from February 11th to February 22nd, with the election taking place on the 6th and 7th of March.
If you are interested in standing for a position and have any questions, please contact enquiries@src.gla.ac.uk

04/12/2012 – Minibuses and Adverse Weather Conditions
Happy Winter folks!
Just to let you all know – the minibus service is still operating as normal, however, due to adverse weather conditions delays are more likely, and also there may be difficulties getting the buses into areas where it is particularly icy – Murano Street and Queen Margaret Halls for example.
We will endeavour to ensure the service continues to run as best as possible and hopefully the winter stays good to us.
All the best,
GUSRC
