If you are off campus and you are involved in a serious accident or incident, contact the local emergency services first and then let the University know as soon as possible thereafter so that any appropriate assistance can be provided.
A serious incident would involve death or serious injury or risk from an accident, natural disaster, political disturbance or similar event.
In these circumstances, use the following number to make a PPA (Please Provide Assistance) call to the University reversing the charge if necessary.
Call: +44 (0)141-357 6868 (24 hours)
Say you are making a “PPA call” and be ready to give:
- A brief description of what has happened
- What help is required
- Names and other details of those involved
- A contact phone number (and alert someone there to expect calls)
- Agree a time to phone again
University assistance can include help with repatriation, enlisting support from insurers and local agencies, notifying relatives, fielding media inquiries.
