University of Glasgow Settlement

The University of Glasgow Settlement was initially established in the late 19th Century by pioneering female students with the aim of helping support people in the poorer areas of Glasgow, and over the years the Settlement has contributed to a number of invaluable services and projects across the city.

Now in the 21st Century we not only seek to continue in this tradition but to also help you gain some invaluable work experience and develop the transferable skills you’ll need to succeed when you graduate.

We offer a range of paid summer placements with leading voluntary organisations through the collaborative Find a Solution project, managed by the SRC, which give you the chance to put into practice what you’ve learnt in your academic studies. Previous projects have included opportunities for students to undertake marketing strategies, service evaluation and feasibility studies for Voluntary Organisations or Social Enterprises in Glasgow.

We’re also giving Psychology students the the chance to apply to have your research costs covered if you’re underaking research (taught dissertation etc) with a ‘social end’.
